The Island- Is where all of the novel had been taken place in. When a plane crashed down due to the war on the island, Ralph, Jack, and the rest of the group of boys became the only survivors, and inhabitants on the island. The island is located somewhere in the seas near England. The Island contained a mountain, a castle rock, a forest which spreads all around the island, the beach where Ralphes group stayed containing shelters, lagoons, and Simon's secret nature area. In the beginning, a ship had crossed, but the group hadn't been rescued since there was no search fire for the ship to sea. At the end, Jack began lighting the entire island on fire in a desperate attempt to kill Ralph once and for all. Al though, due to all the explosions, a captain along with his ship came at last at the end of the novel.
The Mountain- The mountain is the main area in the novel, containing the search fire at its highest point. The side of the mountain is filled with blue flowers, rock plants of some sort, and has an overflow, which hangs down a vent, spilling among the canopy of the forest. On the top of the mountain, there are several rocks and the characters from the novel, can see the entire island from the highest point and could see any ship passing by. At the first attempt to make a fire, the fire caused a tree to burst in flames and fall down, which killed the boy with the scar. In addition, the mountain contains a dead pilot with a parachute, who fell from his plain due to the fight from the war. Sam and Eric first saw him, but believed the man was the beastie, which made the mountain, the beastie's believed home for the time being. Ralph and Jack soon went to seach for the beatie at night, but only saw the man as a monster out of fear. Simon later discovered that the beastie was only the dead pilot, but before he could explain his knowledge to the group, he was killed by the boys by accident, since everyone believed he was the beastie when he came out of the forest.
The Castle Rock- The castle rock was originally believed to be the area of where the beastie lived, but was proven wrong. The area is on a tailed end part of the island, where several rocks are piled up, making some sort of bridge. At the castle rock, there were yards of stony grounds and two sides of the island came almost together creating a peak of headland. At the side of the castle, around a hundred feet high, was the pink bastion seen from the mountain top. On the right side of the castle was the lagoon. There was a flat rock, which had water flowing down on four sides, which made them seem like cliffs. The cliffs were able to be climbed, but wasn't seen necessary and there was a steep slope up to the shattered rocks that crowned the bastion. Jack claimed the area to be the perfect place for a fort, to Ralph's dismay. Although, the area contains no food, no shelter, and no fresh water. Instead Jack believed, that they would be able to roll rocks on to the bridge. When Jack made his own group of where he would be the leader, he decided that he and his group would stay at the castle rock. The castle rock soon became a new fort and the boulders were soon able to be used to guard the castle rock. Roger used one of the boulders, to try to kill Ralph, ending up smashing Piggy to death, along with the destruction of the conch shell.
Simon's Secret Nature Area- At times, Simon wondered off deep into the jungle where he finds an open space where most sunshine falls. In this area there is a large open space where Simon enjoys being in. Only little plants and ferns grew in this area. The whole space was filled with dark aromatic bushes, and was practically a bowl of heat snd light. A great tree, fell across a corner, which leaned against one corner and trees that stood on a rapid climber. In this area, Simon seaked to be alone and away from the rest of the group. All over, there were butterflies and the bright fantastic birds, bee sounds, and the crying of gulls. In addition, the deep sea breaks miles away on the reef.
The Beach- Is the main location of where Ralph and his group stays. In the area, mostly Ralph and Simon have made shelters for the group to live in till they get rescued. The area contains lagoons, where usually the littluns swam in, several fruits and plants, and the sand where the littluns made sand castles in. Many of the meetings that Ralph had held were taken place at the beach. Ralph became annoyed of Jack that he never actually helped build any of the shelters and all he and his group cared about was hunting pigs. After some time in the novel, Jack decided to leave Ralph's group on the beach creating his own group at the castle rock. Many of the boys also had went against Ralph and joined Jack's group. The beach remained having only Ralph, Piggy and some litluns. Soon after, Jack's group went to the beach one night to steal Piggy's glasses by force, which had then created a fight. At the end of the novel, a ship had seen all of the fire on the island and a captain came up to the beach, to finally rescue the group of boys.
The Forest- Most of the island is completely covered in a forest. Somewhere in the forest, the plane had crashed down due to the war, leaving the group of boys as the only survivors. Several pigs inhabit the forest, which Jack and his group go out hunting for. In addition, the pig runs have been taken place in the forest. Deep in the forest, Simon went to his secret nature area several times. In the forest Simon first encountered the Lord of the Flies, which was actually a dead sow's head on a spear, surrounded by flies, who actually began speaking to Simon in his mind. In a desperate attempt to kill Ralph at the end of the novel, Jack began lighting the entire forest on fire, which ironically got a ships attention by accident, instead of Ralph's search fire, which got the boys finally rescued.
